Reviews, comments, and editing together

If you can’t publish (for example, as an Author), or your site requires reviews, the editor shows Submit for review instead of Publish. Add an optional message for the reviewer and send it. The request appears on reviewers’ dashboards under Waiting for your review.

While it waits, you can still edit, or Withdraw request.

Open the item from your dashboard. The review card shows who asked, when, and their message.

  • Approve and publish makes it live, with an optional note for the author.
  • Send back returns it to the author with your note.

Your site may use several steps, such as Legal then Editor-in-chief. The card lists each stage as approved, waiting, or not yet. If your role can approve the current stage, you’ll see Approve stage name. Stages are approved in order, and nobody can approve their own request. Publishing opens once every stage is approved.

Administrators set up stages under Settings → Review workflow: up to five stages, each approved by one role. There’s also an option to require an approved review even for people who can publish, for some or all content types. Leave the stage names empty for a simple one-step review.

Open Comments in the editor to discuss an item without changing it.

  • A comment can be about the whole item, or about one block (About (optional)).
  • Reply, Resolve when it’s done, or Reopen. A reply reopens a resolved thread.
  • The item’s author and everyone in the thread get an email about new comments.

The editor shows Also editing: with the names of anyone else who has the same item open. If someone saves, comments, or publishes while you’re working, a notice tells you, with a Reload button.

sc-cms doesn’t merge two people’s edits as they type. If someone else saved a newer version, reload before you continue, or your save will be refused rather than overwrite their work.
