Search, sharing, and redirects
Search and sharing fields
Section titled “Search and sharing fields”Pages and posts (and custom types that have their own pages) have three fields that control how they look in search results and when shared:
| Field | Limit | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Search title | 70 characters | Shown in search results and browser tabs. Leave it blank to use the page title. |
| Search description | 300 characters | One or two sentences for search results and link previews. Aim for about 160 characters; the pre-publish check warns when it’s missing or longer. |
| Sharing image (posts: Featured image) | — | Shown when the page is shared on social media. |
AI assistance can suggest a search title and description for you to edit.
sc-cms writes the sitemap, page titles, and link-preview tags for you. Unpublished pages, previews, and staging sites are never offered to search engines.
Redirects
Section titled “Redirects”When you change the address of a published page (its slug or its parent), sc-cms adds a redirect automatically from the old address to the new one, so links and search results keep working. Child pages move with their parent and get redirects too.
Content → Redirects lists every redirect, marked automatic or manual. People who can publish can:
- Add a redirect: enter From path (such as
/old-page) and To path or URL. Use this for links from a previous website. - Remove a redirect that’s no longer wanted.
