| Block |
One piece of a page: a heading, a paragraph, an image, a set of columns. |
| Content type |
A kind of content, such as Page, Post, or one your site adds (Project, Event). It decides which fields an item has and where it lives on the site. |
| Draft |
A saved version that visitors can’t see. |
| Extension (plugin) |
An add-on that gives the site new features, such as forms or a shop. |
| Focal point |
The most important part of an image, kept in view when a theme crops it. |
| Members only |
A page only signed-in members and staff can read. |
| Pattern |
A saved group of blocks you can reuse. A synced pattern shows the same content everywhere; editing it updates every page. |
| Preview link |
A private link to an unpublished version. It expires after an hour. |
| Publish |
Make the current version live for visitors. |
| Recovery code |
A single-use code that signs you in when your phone isn’t available. You get ten when you turn on two-step sign-in. |
| Redirect |
Sends visitors from an old address to a new one. Created automatically when a published page’s address changes. |
| Revision |
A saved version of an item. Every save makes a new one, and none are ever lost. |
| Review stage |
One approval step, such as Legal, that content must pass before it can be published. |
| Role |
A named set of permissions given to people, such as Editor or Author. |
| Slug |
The last part of a page’s address: about in /about. |
| Staging |
A copy of the site for trying changes safely. It never emails anyone or gets indexed by search engines. |
| Template |
The layout around content: the header, footer, and how pages, posts, and listings are arranged. |
| Theme |
The overall look of the site. Switching themes never changes your content. |
| Two-step sign-in |
Signing in with a code from an authenticator app on your phone as well as your password. |
| Token (API token) |
A key that lets another program use your site’s API with limited permissions. |
| Webhook |
A message your site sends to another service when something happens, such as a page being published. |
